Weight Racks

There are two reasons why I use weight racks in my home gym. The first being because my home gym is confined to a corner of the living room in my tiny 1-bedroom apartment. Weight racks are my storage solution. Standard and vertical dumbbell racks keep an entire set of dumbbells in convenient order; while dumbbell hooks go one step further and become your loading rack and spotter in one. Weight trees and barbell racks allot me the space to have a bench and cardio equipment.

Actually, when I think about it, my set of dumbbells and barbells wouldn't be much more than dusty decorations without weight racks. The second reason I use weight racks in my home gym is for safety, and if you don't take anything else with you from reading this site please remember that without safety we might as well stop eating healthy and cease working out. It's my belief that I'm no good to myself injured. All of the effort I put into looking and feeling good would be futile if I injured a limb permanently. If you're not performing your weight training safely then you're putting yourself and anyone else who shares your gym at risk.

Weight racks do their part by keeping loose barbells and dumbbells off the floor and secure so you're not tripping over them to get to machines and benches, and so you're not stacking them loosely against a wall or on top of furniture so they can roll off and fall onto the floor or worse, onto you.

If you have kids or pets then weight racks are an absolute necessity. Both kids and pets are curious and you wouldn't want little Johnny or Fido to break a leg, twist an ankle or have their torso crushed by a barbell, now would you? The best way to avoid tragedy in the gym is to keep things organized and away from those who could harm themselves. If you have kids or pets, better yet, erect a gate or door so they can't access they gym unsupervised. This will keep your loved ones safe and your weights convenient to those who need them to work out.
