Abdominal Slings

To be honest, I'm astonished at the amount of spare tires I see on a daily basis and I'm not talking on the back of jeeps. I'm seeing them on men, women and even children more and more frequently. The spare tire I'm referring to is obviously excess belly fat. This is the most dangerous kind fat because it presses against your vital organs making you a prime candidate for heart attacks and a whole slew of other health problems.

I'm telling you right now, there is no food, no exercise and no magic pill that can make fat bellies disappear on their own. If you want to shed your tummy fat and reveal your abs yes, we all have 6-packs hidden underneath the only way to do it is with a lifestyle overhaul. By consuming fewer calories, eating right and exercising your body will convert stored fat into energy and burn excess fat.

To rid your body of abdominal fat you should target the area with abdominal exercises. An excellent tool for getting the most out of your ab exercises is an abdominal sling. I perform incline crunches, ab twists and hanging leg raises wearing my abdominal sling for the best results.

Abdominal slings encourage the toning, trimming and conditioning of the entire abdominal area. And don't worry an ab sling won't strain your lower back, it'll actually help a bad back by stretching the muscles and decompressing the spine during exercise.

To perform hanging leg raises:

  • Clip your ab sling to a chin-up bar.
  • Slip your arms into the ab sling and steady yourself.
  • Grasp and hang (with arms fully extended) from the bar.
  • Raise legs from the hips and bend the knees up to your chest until your thighs are parallel to floor.
  • Return legs to fully extended position.
  • Repeat.

Anna's Tip: Although the hip flexors are the prime muscles worked with leg raises, I find I get a good abdominal workout because, although my abs stay still, they're constantly contracted during the exercise.
