Free-Standing Cardio Equipment

It's funny! People who finally make the decision to lose weight often expect it to melt off with minimal effort. That's why fitness informercials make billions of dollars per year with billion dollar promises of rapid weight loss without breaking a sweat.

However, if you've purchased one of these weight loss miracles you've probably long since learned that a healthy body doesn't come in the form of an informerical. Getting in shape and losing unwanted pounds takes work. So the question is where's the best place to go for an honest to goodness workout?

If you're just beginning to workout, going to a gym has its disadvantages. The time wasted driving to the health club, waiting in line to use equipment and costly membership fees are often enough to deter a beginner. If you like to work out first thing in the morning or late at night; if your time is limited due to work; if the extra time required to drive to a health club would deter your regular workouts; then it's more practical to workout at home.

Purchasing cardio equipment for your home is the ideal way to burn as many calories and strengthen as many muscles in as little time as possible. The major advantage of a home gym is convenience - convenience that can result in a more focused exercise regimen.

If you decide you will get the most from a work out at home then it's worth the money. First, choose a location for your single piece of cardio equipment, or if space allots more than one piece of cardio equipment. Basements are often a popular location because they're often empty. However, if your basement is a dark, damp, uninspiring environment, you may want to set up your home gym in an extra bedroom, the attic or den.

Remember, the environment will impact how often and how hard you work out, so choose an inviting location that is well ventilated, with sufficient light. For those that like to keep up with the latest news or the soaps, a room with a television would be appropriate there's no healthier way to watch TV.
