The Truth About Dieting
If you're down-and-out brother in-law approached you about investing in the newest pyramid scheme, would you head over to the bank, withdraw all of your funds and hand him over your life savings? Most of us wouldn't even think about it. So it surprises me how many level-headed individuals many of them friends and family members of mine who are more than ready to jump aboard the latest fad diet without a second thought.
This might seem like a pretty harsh analogy to many of you who've tried many of the no-carbohydrate, high-protein diet fads out there but in a sense people who put themselves through fad diets and pyramid schemes are all trying to find a quick way to get rich and lose weight.
Other than a few individuals who've been lucky enough to win the lottery, those of us who become instantly rich are few and far between that's why we hear rags-to-riches stories on the news because they rarely happen. However, there are many millionaires in the world who saved and invested over the years and eventually they became rich with time. Well, the same goes for losing weight and building a healthy body. You have to invest time and dedication. Trust me, if you consume a healthy diet and exercise, you will eventually see your goal come to fruition.
Fad diets and fitness companies who offer expensive, yet drastic weight loss results in just a week are just fantasies like winning the lottery. Sure, you may have lost weight on one of these no-carb diets, but my next question is did you keep it all off? No, because as soon as you return to your regular eating habits your body stores the calories because it thinks its going to be deprived again. The only diet that works is one that you're willing to stick to for the rest of your life. It's reprogramming your body in a sense.
Regardless of if I sit here with a megaphone, shouting until I'm blue in the face, if you don't want to believe what I'm saying then you won't. This is where I say goodbye and good luck with your weight-loss efforts. However, if you're sick of quick fixes and ready to lose weight permanently and be healthy I encourage you to read Go Forward and Graze Like the Elk and this entire website.
Believe in yourself and stick to a balanced lifestyle of nutrition and exercise. I'm personal proof that this works. I can't offer you instant weight loss gratification, because quite honestly there's no such thing. But if you stick with it, you will be rewarded over time, and your body will thank you for it.
