Anna’s a bit nutty!

Yeah, I admit it, I’m totally nutty!

Almonds, walnuts, peanuts, soy nuts…I couldn’t live without them in my diet.

I know that nuts have had a bad reputation. My clients are always telling me that they’ve cut nuts out of their diets because they are high in calories and fat. However, what they don’t know is that their jam-packed with protein, fiber and essential fatty acids as well. I’m referring to unsaturated fats, which help keep your hair shinny, your nails strong, your joints moving well, and your bad cholesterol low.

The key to eating nuts is moderation. You only need a handful to feel satisfied. I incorporate them into my diet in the following ways:

  • Sprinkle a handful of chopped walnuts on your fruit salad and drizzle with fresh squeezed orange juice and a pinch of cinnamon.
  • Throw some almonds and orange slices on top of a grilled chicken salad.
  • For a zip, add soy nuts and dried cranberries to plain yogurt.
  • Roll a fresh filet of sole in thinly sliced pecans.
