It always strikes me as odd when my clients speak of the unhealthy factors in their lives that cause them to gain weight…you know the ones that they have absolutely no control over? If you’re scratching your head welcome to the club, because I’m was too.
It never amazes me how many people blame everyone else, but themselves, for their unhealthy behaviors. Just yesterday, I had one client say to me, “I could kill Debbie at work! Every Friday she brings in donuts!”
I want to retort with, “What, does Debbie overpower you and force them down your throat?” But I hold my tongue.
So that’s why I’ve decided to give you my Fitness Mantra for 2007!
-
You will rid yourself of you unhealthy habits if you don’t let your lifestyle support them.
-
You are the master of what you do to and put into your body. You (and no one else) is the reason why you ate too many sweets in one day. So if you
don’t allowed yourself to eat them – you won’t!
-
You will always have room for exercise in your day if you've made it a priority.
-
There is no such thing as short-term “magical” health success – that’s why
diets, pills and powders don’t work! A healthy lifestyle takes long-term planning, discipline, back-up strategies, forgiveness (when you fall off the wagon), and the self-motivation to get through every single day.
-
Remind yourself of your goals every single day. As your life changes so will your health goals, so take the time to remind yourself of why your health is so important to you. If health is not a priority in your life – you simply won’t eat healthy or exercise.
